When Tim Morgan told his high school guidance counselor that he wanted to publish games for a living, the response was a clueless, “Uhhhh, you’ll probably want some college then.”

Twenty-five years later, while still not publishing games for a living, he has made games his life -- over twenty years as the manager of a game store in Seattle, playtester of more RPGs and board games than you can shake a stick at, and small-press publisher of several games and even more novels. And now, co-owner of the ‘Round the Table Game Pub in Lynnwood.

He currently lives in Everett, WA, where he is the caretaker of four (no, five!) lolcats, the oppressive taskmaster of a teenaged daughter, and the devoted husband of a wonderful author.

His latest work is Ellis: Kingdom in Turmoil, a full RPG rules system and setting, detailing a low-fantasy world where religion is king and morality matters.

What’s Happening? Today: Beer Tasting from 6-8pm; Diplamacy @ 7pm; Catanamaniacs @ 7:30pm. Wednesday: Riichi Mahjong 2-10pm; D&D Encounters @ 6pm; Netrunner League Play begins tonight from 5-10pm. Used Games! Old and New! We just got in a ton of them! By weight, the bulk of the collection is old White Dwarf Magazines (10 for $5) and older Warhammer Codexes and Army Books ($1 each!). We don’t carry those games normally, so we’ll be looking to unload them in bulk and at Dragonflight Convention this weekend. But if there’s anything you’re interested in let us know! We can probably work out a deal. In RPGs, we got a good selection of 3e Shadowrun and some Cyberpunk 2020 books. We’re also putting out more 1e AD&D core books and modules. We still have a large supply of Champions RPG and DC Heroes RPG too. In board games, we have Thunderstone, all three D&D Board Games (Wrath of Ashardalon, Castle Ravenloft & Legend of Drizzt), some of the huge Eagle Games (Civilization & The American Civil War) as well as a new Queen Game, Dark, Darker, Darkest. Other games include Dungeon Twister, Dungeonville, Azteca, Taluva, Star Wars Monopoly and Dark Angel, the card game. Good stuff! And remember, if you need to make room in the closet, we buy your old games.

What’s Happening? Today: EuroGame Learn n’ Play @ 6pm (We got loaded a Print ‘n Play copy of King’s Forge that we’d love to try!); Magic MeetUp: EDH & More! @ 6:30pm. No AD&D with Ron tonight. Tuesday: Beer Tasting from 6-8pm; Diplamacy @ 7pm; Catanamaniacs @ 7:30pm. There’s so much going on today! First off, we promised full rules for the Android: Netrunner and Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Game Leagues. We have them finished up and you’ll find links to their .pdfs below. Two new items! Galaxy Trucker’s The Latest Models expansion adds new ships to this great game. And although they’re not new, they’re new to us. We got in Dragon’s Maze booster packs for Magic: The Gathering! We’re so excited that this Friday is the early release date for the New Dungeons & Dragons Player’s Handbook! We’ve had a lot of pre-orders for it but haven’t sold them all yet, so come in today and pre-order or at 11am Friday morning to pick your copy up! This Friday, Saturday and Sunday is the long-awaited Dragonflight Convention! We’ll be there all weekend showing off our favorite games. So if you’re there, stop by and say “Hi!” to Tim. We should even have some copies of the D&D Player’s Handbook there to sell! Yesterday, we were able to purchase two glass display cases. We’re not exactly sure what we’re going to fill them with, but this may be the final impetus needed for us to bring in some nice wooden chess sets.

Play Android: Netrunner The Card Game or the Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Game?

We are restarting our two leagues simultaneously this coming week on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. The last two leagues brought in a great crowd and we’re hoping our adjustments to the league structures provide a lot more fun and variety in the coming weeks. Both of these casual leagues will feature an extensive use of achievements that we’ve either come up with ourselves, had volunteers dream up, or snatched from the interwebs.

While we’ll be releasing the full lists tomorrow for your deck or squadron building pleasure, we thought we’d give a sneak peak of a few so you get the idea of what’s in store: Netrunner: Flat-line a Runner with a single Net or Meat Damage Acquire 5 or more Bad Publicity as a Corp Lose in the first 3 turns X-Wing: Only a flesh wound – Kill 3 enemy ships in a single round. Meat and Potatoes – Win a game without any upgrade cards Legion – Have all of your ships stay within 1 (range-ruler) range of each other at the end of each movement phase for an entire match.
