We are buying games again!

Sept 30th: Our buyer is on vacation through Oct 15th, 2024. We will be halting the purchase of Used Games until then. Thanks for understanding.

Starting August 1st, 2024, we are back to buying used games. We’ll be changing the details of the process over the course of the Fall, so check back here often to keep up to date! Thanks for your understanding.

Whether you’re trying to find a great deal, looking to clean off your shelves a bit, or if you’re trying to find that super-rare printing of a 1970s RPG, we’re here to help!

Since our inception in 2013, we’ve been buying and selling second-hand games. It’s our passion and one of our favorite parts of the business, and we’ve taken that calling and turned it into the largest selection of used and vintage games in Washington State.

How do we get new games? We buy them from you!

The process is simple. Sort through you games and find the ones that you don’t want anymore. Have a quick look through them, just to make sure that they look complete and that you haven’t left something in the box that doesn’t belong. You’d be surprised what we’ve found tucked in a game box over the years!

Download this form, and list out the games you’re selling, noting things like if the game includes expansions, if the cards are sleeved, and if the game is incomplete. Then box or bag them up, and bring them to us. No appointment necessary.

After giving them a chance to sit and air out, we’ll give them a look over and make you an offer on them. If you like the offer, you get some money or store credit, and we get the games. If you don’t like the offer, you have a week to come back and pick up your games. It’s that easy!

What do we pay? As much as we can! Some places are happy to offer a dollar or two per game and call that generous. We call that a bad deal!

We care about board games and collecting them too much to do that to you. For each item, we’ll figure out an “Estimated Market Price.” This price takes into account many different factors, so it’s hard to describe here, but it is definitely more art than science. It has to encompass things like the popularity of the game, its condition, its age, its collectability, if it’s been reprinted, etc. Once we figure that out, we offer you half that in cash or check, or 2/3 of that amount in store credit. If you choose store credit, we create a gift certificate for you that you can use on anything in the store: games, food, or even drinks!

What are we looking for? Anything really!

Though that’s not completely true, it is probably easier to talk about what we’re not looking for, rather than what we specifically want.

Here is a list of things we are not buying at the moment:

  • Incomplete board games (we will still take incomplete RPGs)
  • Party Games (especially older ones)
  • Children’s Games
  • Jigsaw Puzzles
  • Electronic Games, Computer Games, or guide books for them

Used Games FAQ

Do you buy huge collections? Or super rare, super expensive items? We certainly do! We’ve handled large lots, and had the pleasure of buying the collections of several local game professionals. We’ve bought many extremely collectible games, and have even bought multiple incomplete copies so that we can make playable copies of rare games.

You’ve made me an offer, but now I’d like to keep a few of the games. Can we do that? As a rule, we don’t do this. An offer is for the whole lot, and if you want to decline the offer, that’s fine, but we’re not prepared to haggle over each item on the sell list. In practice, though, this happens all the time, and we’re happy to take a game off the list every once in a while. Don’t make a habit of it though. 🙂

Do you have a list of the used games in stock right now? Unfortunately, we don’t. Tracking the inventory like that would be a huge hassle for us, and we just don’t have the resources for doing it at the moment. But we do have a two things you can do:

  • 1.) Please feel free to give us the names of any games you’re looking for, and we’ll do our best to notify you when they come in. Our process for this still isn’t the best, but we’re working on improving it going forward.
  • 2.) When we put out new-to-us used games, we post pictures of them to our Used Game Hunters Facebook Group and the members of that group are given first chance call dibs on those games. It’s not a high traffic group, so it won’t take up much of your doomscrolling.
