Today: Chess (featuring a free rootbeer to the best player) @ 2pm; X-Wing Miniatures Furball Tournament @ 7PM.
Friday: Magic Packmaster League ($5) @ 3-6pm; Friday Night Magic Draft ($15) @ 7pm.
Time to suit up X-wing fans! We’re hosting our first Furball today at 7 o’ clock on the dot! This tournament will be open to everyone and we won’t be charging an entry fee–the winning team will split up a pack of promos. Try to show up early if you are able. Also, in order to have better prize support in the future we will probably be charging a small fee for these types of engagements. But while we are learning, the bill is most definitely on us!
So, the important question then is…what is a Furball?
All participating players will break into two or more teams, with each player receiving 30 points to build a 1 ship squad in agreement with standard squad building rules. No Large base ships and there is a single exception to the one ship rule for Tie Fighters with Academy Pilots. Teams will be balanced based on league scores, play is timed and carried out in typical tournament dogfight fashion.

What’s Happening?
Today: Riichi Mahjong 2-10pm; D&D Encounters @ 6pm; Netrunner Open Play (now featuring UPSTALK!) from 6-10pm (Congrats to our youngest player Jenny for winning the raffle for the playmat!)
Thursday: Chess (featuring a free rootbeer to the best player) @ 2pm; X-Wing Miniatures Furball Tournament @ 7PM.
The West Coast is a fantastic place for ciders. And we’re so excited to be featuring some of the best and most interesting flavors around! We are continuing to bring in new choices to satisfy your guilty tannen pleasures, whether it’s the unfiltered apple-icious Goldilocks from Washington’s Six Knot Cidery (hint: it’s on draft now), the tangy bite from the Rhubarbarian out of Oregon’s 2Town Ciderworks, or the rich berry flavors in Julian’s Black & Blue Cider out of California.
Don’t get us wrong; we all love our Cincinnati-made Angry Orchards (thanks Samuel Adams!), but sometimes it’s fun to try something a little closer to home. After all, we live in a country that at one point drank more cider than beer! We definitely won’t force any ciders like Strongbow that use additives like caramel for color, glucose for sweetness, and tout being made with “over 50% apple juice.” If you haven’t had a chance to taste everything our craft market has had to offer, drop by sometime and we’ll get that all sorted out.
We’ll see you soon. Around the Table.

Call of Cthulhu Card Game
What’s Happening?
Today: Beer Tasting from 6-8pm; Scrabble @ 7pm; Call of Cthulhu LCG @ 7pm
Wednesday: Riichi Mahjong 2-10pm; D&D Encounters @ 6pm; Netrunner Open Play (now featuring UPDRAFT!) from 6-10pm (Congrats to our youngest playerJenny for winning the raffle!)
The weird world of H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos has drawn in fans for more than eighty years, with its richly painted themes of suspense, adventure, and the eerie unknown. Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game is fully immersed in this world and what is more, places you, as a player, in control of some of the facets of that world.
A typical game of Call of Cthulhu plays very quickly between two players and it has a high-level of player interaction, analysis of open information, planning and strategy. There is a wide variety of possible combinations of factions (Syndicate with Agency, Cthulhu with Hastur, etc.) and each combination will necessitate a different, challenging approach, providing high levels of re-playability.
One of the major appeals of the Living Card Game format is that it gives you not only a solid game experience, full of strategy and excitement, but it also allows you to customize your gaming experience to your liking. As you customize your deck from the Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game card pool, you get to build a strategy around your personal play style. Your options for deck-building are wide open and will continue to grow as we release more Asylum Packs, which will introduce new cards to the card pool every month.
We’re looking eventually to get a league started and in anticipation of that ordered one of the Prize Support Kits. The playmat is gorgeous! If you want a chance to win it, be sure to come out and show your support, that way we know it’s a game people want to see.

Are you Strange? We certainly are, but that’s not actually what I mean.
Have you heard of The Strange RPG? The newest game from Bruce Cordell,Monte Cook and Monte Cook Games, LLC.
What is it? Imagine Sliders meets Time Bandits, where dimension-hopping opportunists raid back and forth plundering unsuspecting realities. But maybe, just maybe, there is something dark and sinister behind these different worlds, and ancient powers lurk … waiting.
The Strange will be available next month, and as Kickstarter backers, we should get ours before they’re available most places. We’re taking pre-orders, both in person and on our website. http://tinyurl.com/ly64tev
The pre-order is cool because if you photograph your receipt, they’ll send you the PDF of the game now. Read it now, and have the hardcover in a few weeks to play. It’s a great deal!

Tomorrow: Hearthstone Fireside Gathering @ 12-4pm; Netrunner Overdrive Draft @ 1pm; Deckbuilding Games with Trent @ 2:30pm; Iron Kingdoms @ 7pm.
We’ve been going on and on about card games this week. Whether it was dropping the price of the Call of Cthulhu and Netrunner Core Sets or hosting the release of the new set for Magic the Gathering, we just can’t seem to shut up about them. Well, I’m happy to let you know that the end is almost in sight! But before we finish, we want to shine some light on several fun Card Game related events coming up this Sunday.
At noon we are hosting a Hearthstone Fireside Gathering for players of Blizzard Entertainment’s hit online CCG. If you are a fan, make sure to drop by with your laptop or tablet and get a few rounds in on our wifi. Networked together, you’ll unlock an achievement in-game, plus its a lot of fun talking strategy with other people who understand your plight against players abusing Starving Buzzard.
At 1pm we’ll be holding our second Netrunner Draft. Entry is up to $25 and includes everything you need for a great time. If you have been intimidated by our Netrunner League, its’s a fantastic way to play against others competitively on a level playing field. P.S. – It’s also a lot of fun!
If you aren’t looking for a huge commitment but want to have a great time with cards, our good friend Trent hosts a Deck Building Game Day every Sunday at 2:30. Dominion, Ascension, Resident Evil, Arctic Scavengers–it’s all fair game and everyone is invited!
Other Card Games — Call of Cthulhu, Netrunner and Star Wars!
What’s Happening?
Today: Medieval Games @ 1pm; Pokemon Gym Day @ 2pm; M15 Pre-Release @ 2pm; Deck-Building Games @ 2:30pm; Story Games (The Quiet Year) @ 6pm; Shadowrun RPG @ 6pm; Iron Kingdoms @ 7pm.
(For more details on today’s festivities, check our previous post.)
Tomorrow: 1st Ed. D&D with Ron! @ 6pm; Euro Game Learn n’ Play Night @ 6pm; Lynnwood Magic MeetUp: EDH @ 6:30pm.
While everyone and their mother plays Magic: The Gathering (and thanks again for selling us out this weekend for the pre-release!), there are a handful of other *really* fun card games that deserve your attention that you may not have heard of and give a refreshing take on the whole genre. To encourage you guys to check them out we are now dropping the price of the Core Sets for each of these Living Card Games (LCGs) by $5!
Android: Netrunner The Card Game is an asymmetrical critically-acclaimed 2-player LCG set in a dystopian cyberpunk future with a League Night hosted here every Wednesday. The Call Of Cthulhu – The Card Game is a two-player heavily strategic LCG set in a horrific world envisioned by H.P. Lovecraft, and our friend Peter is starting a weekly game night beginning this Thursday at 6pm! The Star Wars the Card Game LCG was nominated as the “Best 2-player Game of 2013” on BoardGameGeek and we have got a small group of dedicted players hoping to start a game night here soon.
Innovative mechanics, rich themes, and awesome artwork are the common denominator here and we sincerely hope you’ll join with others who share a passion for these LCGs. For more information on setting up and joining in on the fun, feel free to call and talk to us in person at Round the Table. See you soon!
